A Fun Five Day Painting Course at Cober Hill

Monday 6th May 2024 - Friday 10th May 2024
All Day

Join us for a five day art course at the relaxing Cober Hill Hotel, Scarborough.  All abilities, in any media, are welcome at one of these friendly courses.  TONY HOGAN, a professional artist and qualified tutor who has run this course for us for many years, will guide you at a speed and level suited to each individuals needs.  

The course is fully inclusive of tutoring, en suite accommodation (no single room supplement) and all meals.   A large, light, airy studio is available for indoor painting and transport to en plein air locations is provided when applicable.

We start with the group gathering on the MONDAY at 3pm in the studio on day of arrival where there will be an introductory talk followed by a demonstration before your evening meal.

On TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY those wishing to learn and enjoy to paint en plain air, will be escorted to a sight in or around Scarborough accompanied by Tony.  Anyone wishing to stay and work in the studio is welcome to do so.  For those working en plein air we leave the hotel approximately 10am after a hearty breakfast and return around 2pm to the studio.  At approximately  3pm on these two days Tony will give further demonstrations using different media and techniques for those wishing to watch before the evening meal.  After your meal the studio will be available to continue painting or just chill out in a comfortable lounge with a glass of wine/coffee?

On THURSDAY the en plein air painting is done in the extensive grounds of the hotel throughout the day (or of course if desired just use the studio). Again on the THURSDAY after the evening meal, for those wishing to do so, we meet in the studio for the art work produced during the course to be reviewed and discussed by Tony.

Cober Hill is in a delightful location on the Whitby road from Scarborough set in its own private grounds which, in themselves, offer many painting opportunities.

The course concludes after breakfast on the FRIDAY.

Tony is internationally recognised as a professional artist and tutor with artwork in homes and galleries around the world.

He works for many leading manufacturers as an ambassador and demonstrator along with T.V. , exhibitions and writing magazine articles for art magazines.

Autumn / Winter November Course Cober Hill

The Autumn/Winter art course is once again tutored by Tony Hogan and like the previous art courses at Cober Hill is all inclusive with no single room supplement.

As the season gradually turns to the cool of winter we have a well lit and warm spacious studio offering a cosy environment with like minded people, where you can learn or develop your art in the media of your choice.

For those wishing to paint en-plein air the picturesque extensive grounds are available to enjoy with a myriad of painterly aspects.

There is also a variety of teas, coffee with biscuits are also available for you to make anytime you wish in our studio kitchen.

The course will commence  on Monday at 3pm. in our studio when Tony will give an introductory talk plus a demonstration, before you all settle yourself in, in time for dinner at 6.30pm.

After breakfast on Tuesday we enjoy  three days of painting your own choice of scenes etc: or if you wish copy one of Tony’s works. 

Tony will be available in the studio and grounds to advise/guide  and answer your questions.

Within the three days there will be demonstrations of different media and techniques by Tony. But those wishing to continue with their own work at these times are welcome to do so.

The course concludes after breakfast on the Friday morning.

There is a bar facility for those wishing to enjoy a glass of wine or beer of an evening, a lounge with T.V. for relaxing in, and extensive well kept grounds to enjoy.

Your artist is internationally known with artwork in private collections around the world and enjoys a big following for his own individual style of painting. He is in demand as a regular contributor to leading art magazines, a T.V. demonstrator and gives workshops and demonstrations to art groups around the country.
