Biography

Born in the World Heritage site village of Saltaire, West Yorkshire, UK, TONY, the second youngest of a family of 12, always had an artistic aptitude and despite the fact that his father passed away while he was still a child his mother and siblings encouraged and supported him to develop and pursue his talent. So, at the age of 15, Tony started his formal training at the Bradford College of Art. Upon leaving college he spent the next 10 years working in, creative advertising, brand images and print speciality businesses while still attending college part time to advance his knowledge and techniques.

After working for diverse international companies he eventually became the advertising and marketing manager for Wrangler Jeans UK but his desire to work in fine art painting was still his first love. So after ten years of corporate work and now with a wife, young son and some trepidation he took the plunge to become a self-employed artist, painting, exhibiting, demonstrating and tutoring to survive.

“The best decision I ever made” says Tony who has now developed a global reputation for his work, selling paintings around the world. Throughout his long career Tony has had many one man shows and joint exhibitions. He has tutored, to fine art degree standard, for the Open College of the Arts and is a regular contributor to leading art magazines such as Leisure Painter and Paint & Draw. Appearances on national TV doing demonstrations and specifically commissioned television programs, are all part of his CV as is Tony’s work for leading art material manufacturers that takes him the length and breadth of the country demonstrating their wares.
